How to tell real silk.
Four tests you can do at home: the label, the price, a kitchen scale and a thread held to a flame. None of them needs a lab.

You don't need a lab. Four things tell you in five minutes whether a pillowcase lives up to its label.
The label
Real silk names the fibre and the weight: “100 % mulberry silk” with a momme figure. If it only says “satin”, “silky” or “silk feel”, it is polyester.
The price
22 momme silk cannot be made for CHF 15. The thread is expensive, and so is the weaving. A very low price is not a bargain, it is a clue.
The kitchen scale
Momme is a weight, so weigh it. A 50 × 70 pillowcase in real 22 momme silk weighs 76 to 82 grams. Our sample weighs 81 grams. The usual 16 momme comes in at around 60.
The burn test
A few threads from the inside seam, over the sink, held with tweezers. Silk chars, smells of burnt hair and crumbles to ash. Polyester melts into a hard bead and smells of plastic.
Only threads from the inside seam, never the fabric itself.
