Frequently asked questions
What does 22 momme mean?
Momme is the unit of weight for silk: 1 momme = 4.34 g/m². 22 momme corresponds to around 95 g/m² – the density at which silk is truly dense, durable and smooth enough to protect hair and skin. Thinner silk (16–19 momme) is cheaper but less durable.
Silk or satin – what's the difference?
“Satin” is a weave, not a material – usually polyester. Real mulberry silk is a natural fibre: breathable, temperature-regulating and gentle on moisture. Polyester satin feels smooth but traps heat and hardly breathes.
How do I recognise real silk?
Two tests: weight – a 50×70 pillowcase in 22 momme weighs around 70–78 g. Burn test – a few threads from the inside seam: real silk chars, smells like burnt hair and crumbles to ash; polyester melts into a hard bead. We show both on our Instagram account.
Is your silk certified?
Our silk comes from OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified production (product class I – the strictest level, suitable for baby products). The certificate confirms that the material is free from harmful substances.
Which size fits?
50 × 70 cm is the international standard size and fits most pillows in Switzerland (including IKEA). The classic Swiss sizes 65 × 65 cm and 65 × 100 cm are in the works – sign up for the newsletter and we'll let you know.
How do I wash silk?
By hand or on a delicate cycle at 30 °C with a silk detergent, in a laundry bag, without fabric softener. No tumble dryer. Details under “Silk care”.
How do I pay?
